It’s all right here…
The Business and Technology Growth Center (BTGC) at University Town Center is a public/private incubator formed by UTC, the University of Maryland Technology Advancement Program (TAP), and the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
Its mission is to provide a place in which new high-tech start-up companies can obtain the support they need in order to flourish. In addition to its mission to provide a high-tech haven for up-and-coming businesses, BTGC is designed to stimulate economic growth within the City of Hyattsville, Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland. They are encouraged to seek new employees, especially county residents, through the Workforce Development Partnership.
The BTGC over fifteen thousand (15,669) square feet of office space currently occupied by start-up companies. The office sizes range from a single office (170 square feet) to five thousand square foot suites. BTGC companies can utilize shared facilities such as conference rooms, fax/copier room, reception area and receptionist. Additionally, BTGC may provide companies with semi-furnished suites.
Through the partnership with TAP, BTGC is an extension of the University of Maryland’s campus environment. BTGC affiliates of TAP have access to the facilities of the University including its libraries, labs, and equipment as well as access to university faculty and students. This close working relationship fosters establishment of working relationships that provide business, technical support and a potential employee base.
Through the EDC, BTGC companies can get needed assistance for growth. This assistance can be obtained via business guidance, workforce development and grants and loans given to developing companies. EDC also can assist in the search for venture capital for these companies.
The BTGC also houses support companies that work with the incubator tenants at reduced rates to further assist them in their growth.
