Herschel W. Blumberg is the President and owner of Prince George's Metro Center, Inc., which is developing University Town Center. Mr. Blumberg is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a graduate of Georgetown University. Since 1948, he has been involved in a large number of varied real estate ventures, including the design, construction and management of a 2.5 million square foot multi-use project, University Town Center. As the owner of Prince George's Metro Center, Inc., he has participated in the acquisition, engineering, zoning, development and sale to home builders of over 10,000 single family detached lots, single family attached lots, apartments, a commercial office building, as well as the conversion of apartment buildings to condominiums. Mr. Blumberg has been active in scores of religious and civic organizations both nationally and locally, including serving as Chairman of the Parking Authority of Prince George’s County, Treasurer of the Cancer Society of Prince George’s County, and a member of the Board of Directors of both the Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Blumberg is a graduate of Georgetown University and a proud former Marine. He has been married for over 50 years to Goldene Zalis Blumberg, and they have three children and two grandchildren. He has served as an officer of a number of organizations in Prince George’s County, including:
- American Cancer Society
- Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce
- Maryland Economic Development Commission
- Founding chair of the Prince George’s County Parking Authority.
He has also served as an officer or active leader in a large number of civic and religious organizations both in the broader Washington metropolitan area and nationally. They include:
