  • Tour Document Garden.  Follow the progression of historical documents from the beginning of our nation through President Kennedy’s powerful inauguration speech.
  • Visit the art sculpture.  Identify the themes and personalities portrayed in the art.
  • Visit the terrapins

Field Trip II: A Visit to Images of America and the National Archives

  • Visit to Images of America
  • Visit the National Archives at College Park, just two miles away. 
  • The National Archives is the repository of documents of significance to the history of the United States. 
  • Visit Giift shop in which copies of key documents of significance to US history, many of which were selected for inclusion in the Images of America displays, are available.
  • Length of tour 1.5 hours

Docent led school tours for fifth grade students and older can be scheduled in advance for Tuesdays or Thursdays at 10:15 am or 1:15 pm.  Limited alternative times may be available by special arrangement.  There is no entrance fee.

Field Trip III: A Visit to Images of America and the Ratner Museum

  • Visit to Images of America
  • Visit The Dennis & Phillip Ratner Museum in Bethesda
  • View original art by Phillip Ratner on themes from the Bible
  • View the Gallery of Children’s Literature in Art
  • Changing exhibitions by other artists.

The museum is open to the public Sunday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Group tours for all ages are available Sunday through Thursday by appointment only.  A group children’s tour which includes a hands-on art project can be arranged by special request.  The museum is closed Friday and Saturday.   There is no entrance fee
